    Our partners at BREC Development have been working hard over the past two years to bring Somerville’s most progressive housing design to the community. Local Property Shop is excited to announce that we’ll be coming to market with our last remaining unit at 290 Highland Ave within the next month, as our building is nearing completion.

    So, what makes the residences at 290 Highland Ave so unique? Here’s the rundown:

    First, this building design started with each unit layout focusing on smart sustainability. All units have elevator access, and five of the seven units have direct elevator access into the home. There are seven private residences, plus one commercial retail unit in the building. Each unit has an open concept floorplan, with plenty of light flooding through large windows. The layouts also create a separation between living/entertaining and resting areas. Six of the seven homes have private outdoor space, with the penthouse units boasting the large walkout decks that span the perimeter of the building along Highland Ave and Cedar St. The interior design is comfortably modern, containing a mixture of contemporary-style design qualities and a neutral, relaxing color palette. There is five-inch compressed bamboo flooring throughout the living space and bedrooms. The bathrooms have tile flooring that continues to showers and tub surrounds finished with custom glass enclosures. Lastly, there are no shared living walls between units and the team worked with an acoustic sound consultant to make sure that homeowners will peacefully enjoy each home.

    All homes contain high energy-efficient smart home components, including an Energy Star-rated Samsung stainless steel appliance package. There are Marvin double-glazed windows, Energy Star-rated heating and air conditioning, Navien tankless hot water heaters, LED lighting throughout, Nest thermostats, Sonos integration, controlled front door access and our favorite feature – each of our six parking spaces is wired for electric car charging! There’s also easy-access bike storage for the building.

    Five of our six homes went under agreement during our pre-sale period in December. Now, as our building nears completion, we’re ready to bring our final unit to the open market.

    Unit 3B is our largest, with the best floorplan. This home has direct elevator entry into a large corner unit, and an open concept kitchen with ample space for living and formal dining areas. There are three bedrooms, three bathrooms, en-suite master bath, generously-sized second and third bedrooms, a private walk-out deck and optional covered parking.
